Collection: Inulin
Inulin is an oligosaccharide, i.e. a low-calorie simple sugar (100 kcal/100 g) and with a rather low glycemic index, which is extracted from various foods of vegetable origin, in particular from chicory root or from the plant agave. Dietary fibers such as inulin are food components that are not digested by the body. However, it is mainly used for its prebiotic action : this soluble fiber in fact stimulates the growth of some good bacteria (such as Bifidobacteria or Lactobacilli) naturally present in the intestinal microflora, hindering at the same time-
the proliferation of harmful bacteria. Through this process it contributes to the formation of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) which, among their various functions, are able to lower the pH value.
